Why are CRT monitors so cool?
Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) in old televisions and computer monitors are technically a simple form of linear electrostatic particle accelerator. They function by using an electron gun to "boil" electrons off a cathode, which are then accelerated by high voltage towards a phosphor screen in a vacuum
